Sustainability is the cornerstone of Solar Design Associates' design philosophy. Implemented properly, sustainable development uses natural resources in a manner that does not eliminate or degrade them, or otherwise diminish their usefulness for future generations. At its most effective, environmentally-conscious development is the best, most responsible kind of investment.

For development to be sustainable, it must integrate these elements:

• energy-conscious design
• environmentally responsive planning
• solar and/or wind energy utilization

Sustainable buildings are designed to lessen their impact on our environment through energy and resource efficiency.
